What brought you to MTSI?
When I was debating what company to go to, I thought to myself, “what I am looking for”? A few answers came to mind: Longevity, Culture, and Benefits. MTSI has a 92% retention rate over the last 30 years and that stems from an employee first mind set, maintaining a great culture, and great benefits. These key factors led me to MTSI. Within the first week of starting here I remember having dinner with my wife, and she looked at me, smiled, and said, “I can genuinely tell that you are much happier at MTSI”. This statement from my wife said it all, and I knew I made the right decision coming to MTSI.
What’s a skill or hobby you have outside of work that your colleagues might not know about?
I am an avid golfer and spend most of my free time either with my family or playing golf. I usually go on two annual golf trips a year to different locations. This year I went to Strasburg OH, and will be going to Savannah, Ga later this year. I also work with the NASIC Association, and I help run and organize the Spring and Fall NASIC Association Golf event every year. We raise money for a scholarship fund for High school students whose parents/ grandparents that either work or have worked at the Center.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career, and how has it influenced you?
Life/Career advice: You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf. This has influenced me to remind myself that there will always be ups and down that can throw us off course at anytime and it is how we respond to these that makes the difference. It reminds me to embrace change and adapt to new situations which may involve learning new skills. This also serves as a reminder to be present in the moment and a reminder to not get caught up in the past or the future and just focus on what needs to be accomplished with clarity and composure.
What’s a fun or memorable team activity or event that you’ve enjoyed so far at MTSI?
My favorite event I have enjoyed so far at MTSI would have to be the Dayton Dragons game in the Dragons Den. It was a great time to spend with my coworkers and my family watching the Dayton Dragons play.
