MTSI Makes Inc. Magazine Annual list for Fastest Growing Companies

Inc. Magazine, "the magazine for growing companies," announced today that Modern Technology Solutions, Inc was again named to its annual list of the 5000 fastest growing companies in America. MTSI was #2720 on this year's list. This is the third year that MTSI has garnered recognition form Inc Magazine. Since debuting in 1991 with 100 of the fastest growing companies, then expanding to 500 companies the next year, and 5000 in 2007, the list has highlighted the accomplishments of many well known entrepreneurial companies. The 2009 list highlighted the growth of companies from the 2005 through 2008 period. MTSI's revenues grew by 207% during that period. MTSI moved up significantly from its position as #3384 on last year's list.

Scott Coale Elected Vice President of the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association

Scott Coale from the MTSI office in Dayton, Ohio was recently elected Vice President of the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association (DaytonDefense). DaytonDefense is a non-profit industry association with over 300 member companies. The association represents its member companies in serving the Dayton-area community and promoting regional economic development. According to DaytonDefense By-Laws, Scott will serve a two-year term as Vice President starting in July 2009. He will then assume the role of President in July 2011, also for a two-year term.

Kevin Robinson receives 3-Star Note from LTG O'Reilly at MDA Awards Ceremony

Mr. Kevin Robinson was recognized and personally thanked by Lieutenant General Patrick J. O'Reilly, MDA Director, at the MDA Awards ceremony for his leadership role and outstanding contributions in the development of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Integrated Master Test Plan (IMTP). Mr. Robinson served as MDA's lead engineer in development of a comprehensive test plan through the FYDP that was jointly developed and approved by MDA, the Service Operational Test Agencies, the Warfighter, and DOT&E.

Phil Soucy named Greater Washington Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Of the Year

Phil Soucy was named Greater Washington Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in the highly competitive Government Contractor category. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year awards celebrated their 23rd anniversary this year. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Phil was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner on 18 June 2009. As a Greater Washington award winner, Phil is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of The Year 2009 national program.

Several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 14, 2009.

MTSI Makes Fantastic 50 list of the Fastest Growing Companies in the Commonwealth of Virginia

We reported on 10 March that MTSI had been selected to the Virginia Chamber of Commerce's Fantastic 50 list of the fastest growing companies in the Commonwealth. On the 30th, the awards dinner was held at the Westfield's Marriott. Guest speakers included Dorcas Helfant-Browning of Coldwell Banker and Bob McDonnell, former Attorney General and current Republican candidate for Governor. In the photo, Phil Soucy (center) accepts the award from members of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

MTSI Huntsville Office is Recognized as one of the Best Places to Work by Local Newspaper

The MTSI Huntsville office was recently recognized by the Huntsville Times as one of the Best Places to Work in a prestigious regional competition. The 2nd annual awards program was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County and the Northern Alabama Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). This year's event was held in the ballroom of the new Huntsville Westin Hotel. In the photo, (left to right) MTSI VP Judd Squitier joins Kathy Cagle, (MTSI Huntsville office HR Manager/Recruiter), Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Mark Cash (Huntsville Office Senior Program Manager), and Tim King (Huntsville Office General Manager and Missile Systems Group Lead). Tim's MTSI Huntsville office was in competition with nearly 200 local firms that were finalists for only 15 Best Places to Work awards.

Wendel Takenaka of MTSI's Colorado Springs office has been awarded the US Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center's Rapid Reaction Squadron (RSS) Contractor for the 1st Quarter 2009

RRS is a rapid prototyping unit focused on delivering space superiority products for operations evaluations and future integration. Wendel supports the Weapons School Mission Employment, an advanced graduation exercise to infuse space capabilities into joint planning and execution missions. The Weapons School Mission Employment was ranked #1 of 28 critical space technology projects at the RSS that enhance warfighter's understanding of advanced space contributions.

Wendel was selected to support this activity because of his diverse air, space and network systems knowledge, as well as his outstanding leadership.

MTSI Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Contract from Department of Interior


11th March 2009; Alexandria, VA



The Department of Interior has awarded MTSI a $19.6 million, five year, firm fixed price contract to provide engineering and analytical support to the Office of the Deputy under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology. MTSI will provide expert assistance in organizing and recommending technical management concepts, analysis of acquisition programs, preparation of selected roadmaps, and unmanned systems support. The contract calls for MTSI to directly support the Directors of Portfolio System Acquisition, Systems and Software Engineering, and Joint Advanced Concepts. In addition, MTSI will help the Office of the Secretary of Defense develop and implement approaches to integrate Unmanned Aircraft Systems into the national airspace system.

MTSI is Highlighted as One of the Fastest Growing Companies in Virginia by the Chamber of Commerce

The rapid growth awards continue for MTSI. The Virginia Chamber of Commerce's Fantastic 50 Award is the only program that highlights 50 of Virginia's fastest growing companies on a statewide basis that is open to all types of businesses. Along with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, signature sponsors of the event include Goodman & Company accounting, Sun Trust bank, Virginia Business magazine, and the Westfields Marriott, where the annual banquet is held. MTSI will join the other diverse business awardees at the annual banquet on 30 April 2009.

MTSI Honored by Smart CEO Magazine

Smart CEO magazine honored MTSI at their annual 'Future 50' event in Bethesda, MD on 29 January. Twenty members of the MTSI staff enjoyed the festivities as CEO Phil Soucy joined a select group of 50 regional CEO's whose company's were recognized for their rapid growth. Smart CEO also recognized Phil this month by naming him to the Smart 100 CEO program for 2009. This is not a fast-growth award, but rather a prestigious selection based on leadership, strategic vision, and character.
